Stop The Remake Of Rocky Horror

Dear MTV studios,

We, the undersigned, request that you stop production of the planned 2010 remake of the cult classic, " The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

I am aware that your studio is most likely remaking the film to earn a profit. However, in my opinion, you are doing the exact opposite. I cannot speak for the fans, but I have a feeling that they most likely feel the same, but are afraid to speak.

I will say that movie-musicals are coming back, but remakes are certainly not a popular genre. Infact, if you look at the Box Office numbers for film remakes, you will see that they barely made it pass their budget. However, this film will not be for the theatre, but for the television. Which is even worse, and will most likely hold dire consquences for your company.

Also, though it may seem wrong to speak for him, I know for a fact that the remake does not have the blessing of the film's original creator, Richard O' Brien. You say you want "new songs" in the film, but you would have no material to go on without Mr. O' Brien's help. He wrote the original script, he wrote the music, he created the characters.

Without Mr. O'Brien's advice, the remake will fail. Sure, it may be a minor success amongst the "teeny boppers" but many will loathe it. However, since I am nothing but a devoted fan, I can do nothing but write this petition and hold hopes that you will read over it and agree.
