Background (Preamble):
Credit card companies charge the retailers rates of around 3% of the sale of goods and services. This results in higher prices for to all consumers who receive only a token of the proceeds in rewards schemes.
Petition:
This petition requests that the Federal Government legislate that retailers are required to add directly and itemise, the credit card charges related to each purchase. This will encourage consumers to use cash; cheaper forms of credit and funds transfer resulting in direct savings for consumers with benefits that outweigh reward schemes.
