Stop the Crackdown by the Ethiopian Government
We, the undersigned, are extremely alarmed by the recent events in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which has led to the deaths of peaceful demonstrators, innocent children, and the arrests of opposition party leaders.
We call upon the Government to immediately establish an independent commission to investigate the indiscriminate violence by national security officers that has led to needless injury and death from protests on November 1 and 2, as well as those from protests on June 8, 2005.
We also ask that Minnesota's Congressional Delegation to demand that the Ethiopian government cease the use of deadly force in dealing with civilians expressing their civil liberties as guaranteed by the country's constitution and laws.
