Stop the Astley Bridge Mosque Bolton

This petition is being set up for residents in Bolton. We are writing to object to the building of the proposed "Super Mosque" on Canning St, Astley Bridge!

The building of such an establishment there would cause a real danger to members of the public due to chronic lack of parking (1,000 occupancy 80 parking spaces).

The increase in traffic would cause a hazard to motorists and pedestrians as well as inconvenience to locals wishing to park their own cars somewhere near their own houses! This has been confirmed by Bolton Council Traffic Officers survey of the area and also by the number of traffic incidents in this area!

We also note the large number of Mosques in the BL3 area and question the need for increasing the mosque capacity in this area as current mosques are operating below capacity! This building is certainly going to act against community cohesion!

We also question the legality of Bolton Council funding religious buildings! For all of the above reasons we ask that the proposed Mosque is not built and all funding of religious buildings is audited fully and shown publicly!
