For many years the City of Tuskegee Utility Company has over charged the citizens of Tuskegee in their electric bills some monthly and others whenever they get ready. Poor people cannot afford to support the City of Tuskegee monthly with extremely high electric bills.
Many of the citizens of Tuskegee such as my sister Melinda Thomas whose light bill was 1030.15 for the month of 02/2014, 830.00 for the month of 03/2014 and $530.80 for the month of 04/2014. She cannot afford this kind of light bill because her light bill is more than her income. There are many other citizens in Tuskegee who fall into this category.
Some businesses do not pay what I pay in electric bills some months. Many of the citizens such as myself of Tuskegee cannot afford the electric bills that we get every month. We do not have the income coming in for these kind of bills.
I am requesting that the Mayor of the City of Tuskegee and City Council into the extremely high electric bills and do something if it means letting our power come directly from Alabama Power.
We are a poor county and we cannot afford the extremely high electric bills.
