East Lothian Council is due to commence consulting on its draft Local Development Plan in the next two months. The Plan proposes to significantly increase the amount of Greenfield land available for housing development in the coastal village of Gullane.
This is our opportunity to tell East Lothian Council that the community of Gullane village believe that they are contributing an adequate share of East Lothian Council’s housing allocation through the provision of the Brownfield Site of the old Fire College which is available for development.
By allowing prime agricultural land to be used as Greenfield sites for housing, Gullane will be over providing in terms of size of the existing village and infrastructure will be unsustainably stretched beyond capacity.
We, the undersigned, call on East Lothian Council to remove the three greenfield housing allocation sites in Gullane from the Local Plan to leave only the brownfield site of the old Fire College in the Local Plan for development as housing.
