Early last term Gary O'shea hired a group of people to come look around each boarding house and interview a variety of people to observe boarding life to try and find a way to increase the number of boarders due to the surplus amount of beds in each house.
The report said that the cheapest way for the future was to: Close down Rutherford House and turn it into the new prep school/prep boarding house, Turn Barnicoat house into a house that only consists of Year 9 and Year 10 and to turn Fell into the house that consists of Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 boys.
As boarders and old boys of Nelson College, we are against our traditions turning to dust.
We, the undersigned, call on the Board of Trustees and management of Nelson College for Boys to eliminate the aspects of the boarding proposal that involve the shutting down of a boarding house and the segregation of juniors and seniors.
