TV channels, print media and social media is irresponsibly using the name, showing her videos, posting/printing her photograph, and interviewing her parents of a 5 year old rape victim. This is a cruel injustice to the little girl.
She should have remained anonymous. We need to hold the media responsible for making her identity public, which has enabled social media to get hold of her name and pics and videos to be put online.
We, the undersigned, call on PEMRA to take strict action against TV channels and print media, for exposing the identity of the 5-year old rape victim. They have and are constantly using her name, airing her videos, and publishing her photographs. Also the family of the victim should not be shown on TV.
This irresponsible and disgusting coverage of the incident has enabled social media to further expose the victims identity online. It is a cruel act to expose the rape victim which will further traumatize her.
PEMRA has to make sure the channels / print media responsible is penalized so that in future rape victims rights are not so disgustingly violated.
