Petition Background (Preamble):
No organization should force any individual to join any organization against their will. Further no organization should force any individual to pay monetary dues against their will.
No organization should punish any individual who chooses to not join or pay monetary dues. The fact is that in order to maintain board certification in the osteopathic medical field you are forced to pay very large yearly dues to the AOA and to your subspecialty.
If you fail to comply with this request you may find your board certification revoked. Physicians who have trained through an Allopathic program have no such requirements.

Petition:
We the students and doctors of Osteopathic medical education request the American Osteopathic Association and its Subspecialty Sections immediately revoke the mandatory collection of monetary dues and further ask that no retaliatory action be taken against those who do not wish to join the AOA.
