Stop Following the Celebrity Trend

The world suddenly revolves around those that are famous, those that have money, and those who we look to for inspiration, a little entertainment, and some fashion tips. Whether it is fashion statements, music, social and physical trends, or political standpoints, celebrities have had a strong and negative impact on society since day one. Now I wouldn’t stand here and say this if it weren’t an issue, but it is.

It is not the fashion, the music, or the social side of celebrities that is the problem, but the influence it is having on the youth is the real problem. The issue is not only that small children look up to some of these people, but also that many think that if they don’t act and do what some of these celebrities are doing, then they aren’t with the “in” crowd.

The American eye and media has done nothing but contribute to this downfall. “What was Kate Hudson wearing yesterday?” “Did you hear about Bruce Jenner’s soon to be transformation?” Whether it is meant to be shared or not shared, the media and American public has craved knowing the latest gossip and lifestyles of these so called “role models.” It is important for you and I to end the bad habits of being followers of this wide variety of people, by influencing the youth that life is more than a pay check.
