Farzaneh Moradi, mother of a little girl, has been sentenced to death in Esfahan prison in Iran. At age 15 she was forced to marry a distant family member.

At age 16 she became a mother and gave birth to that little girl. Few years later she asked for divorce; but her husband didn’t agree and under Islamic laws in Iran, this means Farzaneh would have to live a slave life to her husband.

Life didn’t stop there and at age 19 she fell in love with a lover that she really loved. Farzaneh’s husband was killed and authorities arrested Farzaneh on charges of murdering her husband. She spent some time in jail while claiming to be innocent. She has said that her husband was killed by her lover, Saeed. Legal system however didn’t believe her story, saying there isn’t enough evidence to prove her claim and sentenced her to death penalty.

On February 9th Farzaneh was taken to be hanged. She pleaded her husband’s parents for clemency while maintaining her innocence. Farzaneh went to convulsion and was taken to hospital to be treated and brought back to be hanged. The parents have given Farzaneh a month to prove that she is innocent.

Capital Punishment is a crime against humanity. It needs to be stopped.
