Basundhara Park in Lakeside which wss a rice field of the Public was acquired by the Goverment of Nepal for Green Belt. Now the Goverment of Nepal signed a lease for the land to Manakamana Cable Car Pvt. Ltd. to operate Cable Car services to World peace Pagoda & other commercial activities inside the area.
We are aware it will benefit Tourism in Pokhara adding a new product in Pokhara's tourism. We are not against development or the cable car project but we request the goverment & the company to search for other government lands for the same. And let the park remain as a park as per the motive of the government to acquire the land. With recent earthquake, we are more aware of the need of public park & open spaces & hope the Goverment of Nepal is aware too.
So, lets stop Commercial Projects in Basundhara Park, Lakeside,Pokhara, Nepal.
We, the undersigned, call on the Goverment of Nepal to eliminate the lease of Basundhara Park for any commercial projects.
