Thanks to all those that have signed this petition, but I have now closed it. But don't worry your signatures are not in vain, watch this space as the saying goes.
For years it has been recognised that coach drivers share rooms when on tour. This has been accepted by the industry as the norm. With the onset of more strict rulings regarding drivers' hours and rest periods this practice must now be stopped.
It is not acceptable in this day and age to expect people to share rooms with "almost strangers" it is not only immoral but dangerous, as neither driver is getting his proper rest and is therefore putting the SAFETY AND COMFORT of his passengers at risk from driver fatigue due to lack of sleep/rest.
The government statistics show that a good majority of road deaths are due to driver fatigue, why then are we promoting this by expecting drivers to share rooms.
I am asking all coach tour drivers who have, or are still sharing rooms, who agree that this is no longer acceptable, to sign this petition so as to bring to an end this practice.
Ask yourself, would your boss share with a driver on tour? Or do tour managers share rooms? I think you will find the answer to those questions is NO. So why should we put up with it.
REMEMBER YOUR FIRST RESPONSIBILITY as a driver THE SAFETY AND COMFORT OF YOUR PASSENGERS. How can they be safe if you have been kept awake all night with your co-driver snoring all night?
