Result:
Nillumbik Council responded to the communities concerns about 24 hour cat confinement and has removed this recommendation from the Domestic Animal Management Plan which was passed with the amendment by the Councillors. A practical and inclusive alternative approach has been adopted, including forming a Cat Working Party.

Thank you to everyone who signed this petition, sent letters and formal submissions to Council and the Councillors, and attended the meetings.

Our collective voice has made a positive difference for cats and cat owners.

We, the undersigned, strongly object to the Nillumbik Shire Council's proposal to enforce 24 hour cat confinement within the next two years.

We support responsible cat ownership, including desexing, microchipping, dusk to dawn cat curfew, and community education. We request the recommendation for 24 hour cat confinement be removed from the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2008 - 2011.
