Start a Big Brothers, Big Sisters Program in Brazil

Similiar to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America a Big Sisters, Big Brothers program in Brazil needs to be started to prevent more children from going to the streets or into premature prostitution. Also, to enable a closer bond between the huge gap of rich and poor Brazilians.

Millions of children in Brazil live in favelas. These places are much poorer and much more dangerous than projects in the US or rural poverty in the US. Many favelas (slums) especially in northeast Brazil are as poor as the slums in Africa. A Big Sisters, Big Brothers program is where a mature teen, college student, or adult spends at least 2 hrs. per week with an extreme at-risk child from the slums such as a street child or young 15yr. old girl who wants to quit school to start prostitution. The Big Brother or Sister gives hope and encouragement to the child living in misery. It is one of the best programs for street children and kids in poverty in the US (I would know this personally from being a Little and then being a Big). The Big Brother or Sister simply needs to be positive for the child, loving, play games like soccer and dominoes, etc.

This would work while Brazil implements a foster care system.
