We the residents of Deer Park, N.Y. And specifically of Glenda Drive are writing this petition due to the constant speeding down our street.
Glenda Drive is used as a cut through street off of Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park, N.Y. Deer Park Avenue is already know for it's “drag racing” and it seems people are treating it as a 50 mph zone rather than a 30mph residential zone.
We have asked the police for something to be done, so far to no avail.
Our pets have been killed by these speeding cars which don't even slow down during bus-stop hours. We are all afraid that someone will hit one of the many children that live on the block or community.
Unfortunately, there was already a horrible tragedy just a few months ago about an eight of a mile just off our street where a recent High School Graduate lost her life.
We are pleading with you to please do something about this problem before it is to late.
We, the undersigned, call on the Suffolk County police/council/Department of Transportation to take action against the constant speeding along Glenda Drive in Deer Park, N.Y. by placing speed bumps on the road.
