The Soldiers of Odin Canada have officially cut ties with the original Soldiers of Odin organization in Finland due to that group's racist, white-nationalist agenda, however chapters of Soldiers of Odin throughout Canada continue to participate in anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rallies and propagate white-nationalist messages online and in person.
The leadership of Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury, Ontario have claimed that racism and Islamophobia are not tolerated within their ranks, but they have failed to denounce the hateful activities of their brothers in Vancouver and Surrey, British Columbia, in Calgary and Red Deer, Alberta, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and in London, Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario.
In Sudbury, members of the Soldiers of Odin have organized clean-ups of discarded needles and have volunteered for a local soup kitchen. They were recently asked not to volunteer at the soup kitchen any longer because of their association with the Soldiers of Odin chapters that have participated in hateful events across the country. They have maintained that they are not a racist, or "anti-anything" organization, but they have not demonstrated this through actions.
We, the undersigned, call on members of the Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury to publicly denounce the racist, anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim activities of their brothers across the country and around the world;
and we call on members of the Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury to publicly denounce the white-nationalist propaganda recently posted on lampposts in Downtown Sudbury;
and we call on members of the Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury to publicly demand the immediate expulsion of all Soldiers of Odin members who have participated in racist, anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant activities throughout the country.
and we call on members of the Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury to wear their vests and Soldiers-of-Odin-branded clothing inside-out while volunteering as a protest against the hateful ideology propagated by members in chapters of the Soldiers of Odin in other parts of the country.
Through these actions the members of Soldiers of Odin in Sudbury will demonstrate through their action that they do not support or tolerate the hateful, racist, anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant ideology of their brothers in other chapters of the Soldiers of Odin. This will help them to earn the trust of their community.
