I am writing this on behalf of all forgotten australians who were in some kind of institutional care throughout the 1900s to 2000, wether it was foster care, ward of the state or voluntary.

I find it appalling that only the government is owning up to take some responsibility on what went on in these places but the catholic church will not. They prefer to stay as they say behind closed doors not accepting any blame only what they have been caught out like with the paedophile priests. The catholic church paid out people like myself in what is called towards healing were we had no representation at all. I feel a lot of us were not treated as well as we should have been in the institutions run by the catholic church. We were made to work as child slaves, we were not paid for our work so the church made very well off us. Where was our protection? You could not get away with this now or you would be charged with child abuse.

Mr Turnbull should help with our cause, we need some kind or settlement from redress as even if we were not wards of the state the government must of attributed to us in these places in the form or child endowment which the government paid to them towards our upkeep. The church needs to accept the wrong they have done to people like myself and stop acting like nothing happened. It damaged us in so many ways. I was placed in the good shepherd convent by the catholic welfare organisation back in 1969, so start to own up for your mistakes against innocent children. Please help us also for all the physical and mental abuse suffered.
