Senator Jesse Helms passed away on July 4th in 2008.

July 4th is not only the birth of the United States in 1776, but the date of death for three (3) US Presidents. Adams, Jefferson and Monroe.

Senator Helms, served in the US Senate for 30 years, the longest term of service for a North Carolina Senator since direct election of Senators.

He dedicated his career to protecting the United States Constitution, Individual liberty, the rights of the Taxpayers and a Strong National Defense.

Helms, was nicknamed "Senator No" because of his willingness to lose votes in the Senate 99-1, as a matter of principle.

Helms always fought against large corporations which did business with enemies of the United States like the USSR, China and Cuba by opposing MFN status for those countries.

Jesse Helms worked to fight for the rights of American POWs, establishing a US Senate Committee to investigate the matter with subpoena power.

We the undersigned request that the USPS Stamp Advisory Committee honor Senator Helms with his own commemorative stamp.

His standing as North Carolina's longest serving elected Senator, his willingness to fight for the tax-payers of the US, and those oppressed in Communist Countries.

Please give Senator Helms own stamp like John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, his fellow Patriots who died on July 4th.
