The demographics and settlement patterns of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties are significantly different from the other counties of the State of Florida.
Further Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties, insomuch as they are substantially different from the other counties of the state in economic needs, educational requirements and cultural identity are are negatively impacted by our governance by the State of Florida.
Given the far greater similarities with the State of New Jersey, it is in the best interest of the people of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties that these four counties be incorporated into the State of New Jersey.
We, the undersigned, legal residents of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe Counties, do hereby request a referendum be placed on the ballot to approve the withdrawal of our association from the State of Florida and become separate counties with the State of New Jersey, retaining existing geographical boundaries and municipalities.
This secession and re-association will take effect within 360 days of approval of this referendum.
