The location of the construction for Tim Hortons on Robinson Rd. and Beattie Ave in the Town of Lockport is being protested by Town residents for the following reasons: SAFETY (There are too many accidents on this stretch of road as it is).
Building a fast food establishment will only cause more traffic as well as increase the use of the unlit shoulder of the road by local pedestrians. Traffic congestion and delays are already a concern for this road especially during the winter months; not to mention the am delays for bus transportation as well. Tax payers of Niagara County vote NO to pay for sidewalk maintanance fees as well as the suggestion of narrowing the shoulder; which in turn, will cause death or injury to even more pedestrians.
Local homeowners do NOT want the added traffic on Beattie nor the avoidance of such traffic to effect our quiet side streets. The invitation for more local food chains in this neighborhood is NOT welcome and WILL lead to a decline in population based on the current peace and tranquility which is what attracted local residents in the first place.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED CALL ON THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS OF NIAGARA COUNTY TO ELIMINATE THE CONSTRUCTION OF TIM HORTONS AS WELL AS ANY AND ALL FAST FOOD CHAINS ON ROBINSON RD./DYSINGER AND BEATTIE AVE. DUE TO SEVERE SAFETY AND TRAFFIC CONCERNS.
