Petition Background (Preamble):
From July 1, clearways within 10km of the city centre will operate from 6.30-10am and 3-7pm. Most clearways presently operate from 7-9am and 4.30-6.30pm.
Toorak Village Traders Association president Tony Fialides said trading would be cut to only five hours a day.
“There has been no consultation with any of the groups or the local Councils, only a high handed announcement that these extensions will take place,” Mr Fialides said.
Fialides added that “traders and residents in the affected areas have become victims in a piece of legislation that will lead to the destruction of many iconic, inner city retail shopping strips.”
