Let's stop Hope & Area Transition Society with setting up anymore low barrier beds or shelters for the homeless in our community. Our little town has been riddled with problems with low barrier housing.
This type of housing does not support a Zero Tolerance practice. It enables people with drug addiction and mental illness to go on living the way they do with no consequences.
Our small town cannot afford anymore tax hikes in order to maintain these types of shelters.
I want my children and your children to live in a safe and friendly environment where drugs and mental illness are handled with proper care. Unfortunately these types of shelters do not provide such things.
Low barrier housing is only a band aid solution to a bigger problem.
We, the undersigned, call on Hope & Area Transition Society to stop any more of these types of shelters or buildings to be added to our town of Hope, BC.
