Due to the public reaction to their decision Bolton Council have decided to halt the felling of the trees and this was part of their statement.

The trees on Gilnow Road will continue to be managed in accordance with Council policy, arboricultural good practice and relevant legislation

Campaign to stop Bolton Council cutting down 33 lime trees which form a beautiful green avenue between Queens Park and Heaton Cemetery, Bolton.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon Bolton Council to reconsider their short sighted decision to destroy the beautiful, healthy, vibrant trees on Gilnow Road, and to hold a public meeting to discuss the long term future of the ecology of the street.
