Hi, we need your help, we have been running a allotment gardening project for over six year, In Heage in Derbyshire we have for all that time had live stock, chickens, cockerils , bees, ducks, rabbits, along with the normal produce we grow each year, part of our frunding comes from egg production, and ther sale of POL hens to fund the project, to produce the POL hens we need a cockerels.

The local town council (Ripley Town Council, Controlling Labour Group Derbyshire, after complaint from the chairman of the allotment association committee ) have told us we have to remove all the cockerils from site, this will desimate the funding for the project, and they are quoting a "1950 Allotment act law", but this act has not been implemented in the past six year, so why now.
The cockerils dont make any disturbance, mess, problems, they just do what cockerils are made to do.

We need any help we can get to fight this, we don't not want to have to have our livestock destroyed we like our project and and achieve great results from the work the children and young people do at part of the scout activities ( how many groups can do a smallholder badge?)

Sorry for being a bit in ya face about this, but we all have worked hard at this project and don't want to see it close down. Thanks for reading, your support is very gratefully received.

If we have to close that will be another children activity closed in the village.

All we want is for people to back us up.

Firstly against the Ripley Town Councils ruling, that in fact we have now set a president under the 1950 act that cockerels can be successfully kept on allotment without causing nuisance.

And that we should be allowed to continue as we have for the past six year, running our project.
