The college of Central Florida has notified Ocala Aquatics that it will not be renewing their lease of the Newton Perry Aquatic Center. Effective September 30, 2017.
Ocala Aquatics has been responsible for managing many programs at the pool for the past 13 years. Over 300,000 people of all ages use the pool each year. Swimming lessons, special olympics programs, firefighter/Emt training, CPR training, club and high school team swimming just to name a few.
We do not believe that the College of Central Florida understands the importance this pool and these programs have on our community. We are asking for the support of the community to help us convince the College that this pool is a needed necessity for the safety and betterment of this community.
We the undersigned, call on the College of Central Florida and Dr. James Henningsen, to renew the lease of the Newton Perry Aquatic Center to Ocala Aquatics effective September 30, 2017. We also asked that the lease be a long term lease so that Ocala Aquatics does not have to face this type of eviction in the near future.
