Marlene Medeiros has been working at Hilo High School for about a year and a half. She has devoted countless hours in helping her students learn about Hawaiian history, Geography, and how to be an active member in democracy. She has a strong connection with her students, making learning fun and enjoyable.
Our Beloved Kumu Pua was informed recently that she is scheduled to be replaced by another teacher some time soon, leaving her without a job. Losing her as a teacher is a fact not taken well by the student body.
Kumu Pua exemplifies Viking spirit everyday, and our school would suffer greatly if we were to lose her.
We, the undersigned, appeal to Hilo High School Administrative and Hilo/Waiakea Complex to reinstate Marlene Medeiros' position at Hilo High School or compensate her accordingly, so that she may still have a job at our school for the rest of the 2015-2016 school year.
