Ford Motor Company of Australia has recently retrenched 440 employees.
Earlier this year, they retrenched 200+. Not to mention some retrenchments from GMH and Toyota in 2010 and 2011.
In 2008, Mitsubishi Australia has closed its Cloveley plant.

If this goes on, we could soon lose Ford like we lost Mitsubishi. Ford makes great cars in Australia, the falcon's quality is on par with the German carmakers, yet it's highly affordable.
Why aren't enough people buying the Falcon, or even the Holden Commodore?
While the Falcon should remain true to its traditional heritage, Ford should also consider a hybrid using the Falcon's platform, but not call it a Falcon or have the same body as the Falcon, like they did with the AWD Territory.
