We are starting a petition to change the current SAR list screen and suggest other improvements for E-47. Orange County CCS has been on the state system for one year now and it is evident that the usability of the system could be greatly improved. It has been a challenge. Let's find a solution together.
We are all aware of the long call wait times, incorrect authorization #'s being given when providers call, & time wasting efforts maneuvering through the current SAR list which is confusing & cumbersome. The SAR system is supposed to increase provider satisfaction & timely payment of claims. However, there are a lot of problems with the usability of the system and this has had a domino effect. Despite being on the SAR system, the reality is that providers in the community are still frustrated, we continue to lose providers who no longer want to accept CCS clients, and employee morale is down.
If we do make the improvements in the usability of the system for those of us who actually have to work on the system everyday, it will greatly benefit work productivity, increase provider satisfaction, and increase employee morale.
We, the undersigned, ask for Orange County California Children's Services (CCS) to present to Children's Medical Services (CMS) the following changes to the current SAR list screen. The changes that we would like changed are:
1. Change "Provider Type" on the View All SAR's screen instead to "Description of Services", this is where the case manager or designated personnel could freetext a short description of what the authorization is for at the time of issuing the authorization. This will prevent having to click on & opening many SAR's in order to figure out what the authorization is for. Placement suggestion of this field would be on the SAR itself to add or modify screen (see example)
2. Change the default on the SAR list to be by descending date (newest first) and sort by alpha as the option. The SAR lists are becoming so long that most of the time we have to sort by date first to find the most current SAR's that providers are usually calling for.
3. Change the "Enter" button to work when making selections instead of having to go between the keyboard and mouse to select an item.
4. Be able to make corrections on authorizations and denials as long as it is made on the same business day.
