The boys are subjected to strip searches after each visit with family. My son is not allowed to receive letters/cards from anyone other than myself, and my letters are censored or not given to him at all if my wording is not approved of..i.e. huneybunny, etc. Letters/cards suddenly became 'contraband' after a disagreement with a staff member.
My son is has not been allowed weekend home visits which should have started over a month ago. I was 'written-up' my last visit and have been banned from seeing my son for 30 days. My son has not gotten the proper care or teachings that are 'advertised' for this program. He has become increasingly more depressed and the actions of the staff towards me and my son have certainly not been motivating to him.
We, the undersigned, call on the Board of Directors to thoroughly investigate the policies and procedures carried out by the staff at the Village . This facility has not been an ideal place for my son to 'learn his lesson' or better himself.
The program is deemed to help the juveniles improve and progress to earn privileges, including weekend home visits, etc. The boys are subjected to strip searches after each visit with family.
