Salobreña Old Town Parking Restrictions

Background (Preamble):
Salobreña Ayuntamiento are now issuing parking permits for parking in the old town. No notices or signs have been posted warning of fines or towing. Permits are restricted to one per household and are for a particular car registration number only. The permit is not transferable.
Many Spanish and foreign property owners rent their houses in the old town which brings much needed revenue into the town and to everyone who has a business here. We are told that people renting properties will have to first visit the police station on arrival to obtain a temporary permit even when arriving at midnight.
This is not a practical solution and will drive tourists away from staying in the old town and which, in turn, will reduce much needed revenue to the town.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on Salobreña Ayuntamiento to clarify the situation with regard to the new parking restrictions in the old town and to enter into immediate discussions with residents and business owners in order to find a solution that will be advantageous to all those who live, visit and work in the old town.
