Residents of Statham that live on Hammond Road or Broad Street have witnessed drivers driving their vehicles at speeds well above the posted 35 miles an hour.
Other reckless, careless, and hotheaded drivers are using our roads to race. Drivers need to see our roads as more than just a speedway out of Statham city limits, or a fast track to Atlanta Highway.
These drivers demonstrate little concern for the families, children, or citizens who reside in our community. Statham law enforcement officers cannot monitor our roads at all times; they lack the financial and work force resources.
The citizens of Statham deserve a safe community, where we do not live in fear for the lives of our children.
This request is simple, in-order to draw the proper attention and bring safety to our streets.
This petition is to request the installation of speed bumps on Broad Street and Hammond Road as a cost effective and simple means to deter drivers from speeding, which endangers our children and community.
