Target:
Stockport Borough Council
Region:
United Kingdom

Parents and carers dropping off and picking up from school have been disregarding parking safety restrictions, thereby causing dangerous conditions for pedestrians at the school crossings.

In particular parents and carers have been parking on the school crossings on Bollington rd and Broadstone Hall Rd,clearly marked over with yellow zigzag lines, pedestrian drop kerb and also the double yellow lines. In some instances drivers are driving onto the footpath of the school crossing to park their cars.

This has been causing not only obstruction of pedestrian crossings but also a serious safety hazard. Parents and children who are walking across the two roads are being met with dangerous driving and parking conditions, and in some instances verbal abuse from drivers.

At present we have no safe method of crossing (school crossing patrol, zebra crossing or adherence to school cross restrictions) on either road in question.

We petition for bollards or a simple, painted black and white zebra crossing on Bollington Rd and Broadstone Hall Rd, so that our children can walk to school safely.

Note: please report all parking violations to Stockport on the link below
http://www.stockport.gov.uk/doitonline/az/parkingenforcementrequest

Vehicles parked dangerously or causing obstruction should be reported to the Police on 101.

We request that Stockport Council install bollards or a zebra crossing on both Bollington Rd and Broadstone Hall Rd at Broadstone Hall Primary School so that our children can have safe passage to school.
