Petition Background (Preamble):
I have created this petition to ask the State Legislature to overturn the Illinois DOMA Law and ACLU of Illinois and Lambda Legal to challenge the Illinois DOMA Law:
1996: Anti-Marriage Bill Adopted.
Prohibits marriages "between two individuals of the same sex" and declares such lawful marriages to be "against public policy."
