The Brother's Keeper House/New Heart Ministries withdrew their application from the Zoning Board on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. Thanks to everyone who helped in this effort.
Public hearing to request an amendment to a conditional use permit for the location at 163 N. Davis Street, Ottumwa, Iowa 52501. The proposed use is a group home for Brothers Keeper House, also known as New Heart Ministries for supportive living for MEN COMING OUT OF CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
The area targeted is currently a residential community. Neighborhood does not want an increase in crime. Level of offense men convicted of unclear.
We, the undersigned, do not want a supportive living house at 163 N. Davis for men coming out of correctional institutions. Residential neighbors want to provide positive choices for those families in the area.
This type of facility does not ensure or give enough information to establish the neighborhood in a postive manner for our families, youth, and ultimately to our residential community. As well, neighborhood property values will decrease.
