Target:
Class of 2018 and 2017 HTLW
Region:
United States of America

Grand Valley State University requires the following classes for graduation as general education: two natural science courses from two separate disciplines, one with a lab, one philosophy and literature course, one writing course, one art course, one mathematical science course, two courses of social and behavioral sciences from two different disciplines, one world perspectives course, one historical perspectives course, one U.S. diversity course, and finally two courses from two different disciplines in issues.

Although the list of requirements is lengthy, with the help of honors sequences we can knock a good amount of those credits with one class. As members of the honors college, we deserve to finish our sequence just as every other honors student has. Without the honors sequence, what other immediate benefits are we given?

Cutting the class at the end of the winter semester of 2015 leaves us with half of the credits we were promised, placing us in a disadvantage from the rest of the honors students. Not only is it unethical to deprive us of an honors sequence we earned by being accepted into the honors college, it is also a major hassle both mentally and financially.

We, the undersigned, call on Grand Valley State University to recall the discontinuation of the honors sequence How to Love the World.
