I have been paying child support for my 17 year old son up until I spoke to an attorney who let me know the procedure in which my child support case was handled; several errors took place that were not corrected. Being a minority without means to afford an attorney my civil rights were violated. After contacting the assistant state attorney general he told me my money was in Connecticut state coffers, and that I need an attorney to get it back.
Money was taken out of my check every week for support & medical as well as all my income tax checks garnished. After speaking to three different case workers and several state supervisors nothing has been done. I have receipts to prove my claim plus check stubs from the state where over payments were made. Would like nothing more than to have the state return all overpaid money. The treasury department was contacted about this serious complaint which may include mail and wire fraud by state employees.
We the undersigned request the state of Connecticut to correct errors in your child support enforcement office in New Haven. The Connecticut IRS who handles wage garnishments. Without acts of duplicity and deception breaking laws after taking an oath to uphold the laws.
It's sad that people with positions of power take advantage of others everyday. Tax paying citizens. The sooner the government stops taking advantage of its people the better.
