Petition text:
Dear Jo Ann López Martínez
I am petitioning to articulate my genuine thoughts about the age requirements for the Barrett Summer Scholars program. A large quantity of scholars have enjoyed their unique experience and are disappointed that they will not get to attend for another year.
I speak in behalf of the majority of the scholars that attended this program and would like to propose that the Barrett Summer Scholars program should add another year to this life changing and inspirational program. There may be no other place for the scholars to receive such outstanding lectures from a variety of different people who have different backgrounds. The scholars have created so many memories from the program and fancy more to be made.
I would really appreciate it if you would think about this and respond to our request. In conclusion, I believe that the Sun Devil Promise is your “commitment to serve the children of Arizona and their parents. ASU keeps this promise by helping students to fund their education; providing students with academic and social support; and working with students and families to prepare for college.”
By allowing sophomores to attend the Barrett Summer Scholars program, you are being committed and serving the children of Arizona, you are helping fund the education of sophomores, you are providing sophomores with academic and social support, and you are preparing sophomores for college.
-Sincerely,
John Fernandes
