After the police brutality that occurred over the 2010 G20 in Toronto and the inactions of our government in response to the way peaceful protesters had been treated MetroTorontoPolice.com believes that both the SIU and The OIPRD must be disband and the revenue wasted on these ineffective programs be put towards a new agency that has the interest of public safety and human rights as its primary goal!
The New Agency to replace the SIU and OIPRD would have the primary mandate to protect the general population from any breach of authority on behalf of any government agency. The new agency must have the authority to lay charges when a case has merit.
We the people ask our leadership to honour section 15.1 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Article 7 of The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights. The time has come to hold all Canadians equally accountable.
We respectfully request that our leadership disband the SIU and OIPRD Immediately. We ask our leadership to start a new organization under joint government-civilian oversight that has the authority to lay charges when they have merit.
