Australia requires that government offices and retail businesses close on Christmas and Good Friday.

This enforced requirement is contrary to Section 116 of the Australian Constitution Act 1901 which requires that no religion be given special favour over others.

These are Christian holy days, and no other religion is accorded such favour.

We the undersigned, call on the Australian Government to stop giving special favour to Christianity, contrary to the intent of Section 116 of the Australian Constitution Act 1901, by repealing the policy of requiring closure of government offices and retail businesses on Good Friday and Christmas day.

The Repeal Government and Retail Closure Policy for Christian Holidays petition to Australian Government was written by King Roman and is in the category Religion at GoPetition.
