Independence Academy (Formerly Shiloh Charter School) has offered a unique and successful academic atmosphere for students to grow and thrive. The school staff and teachers recognized and appreciated that each student learns in a different style and at a different pace. However, there is increasing control from the management group, Charter School Associates (CSA).
The autonomy of the school and the incredible academic climate of Independence Academy are in jeopardy. CSA has made drastic changes to the staff and curriculum. Due to CSA control, several high performing teachers (Melanie Weitz, Donelle Casselman, and Jon Bull) have been removed from their positions in the Independence Academy Middle School.
To ensure that Independence Academy's autonomy and success is maintained, we call for removal of CSA and reinstatement of the aforementioned high performing teachers.
We, the undersigned, call on the removal of Charter School Associates and its board members and the reinstatement of employment for middle school teachers: Melanie Weitz, Donelle Casselman, and Jon Bull.
