In support of Iranian asylum seekers who are sitting down in front of the Indian office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
In spite of conventions and international agreements in protecting human rights, concurrent events held at different levels and vehement wide-spread speeches vocalized in every tribune of international communities in tribute to the freedom and dignity of human life, many of such conventions and agreements, slogans and endorsements are not realized in practice.
Today, on the international day of refugees, when our devastated friends have sought refuge to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in fear of torture, execution and dishonor, the endless paradoxes of these executives are being revealed more than ever.
The countless problems of asylum seekers from Iran and other nationalities in the so-called “safe countries” put proof to this assertion. Numerous difficulties such as uncertain response dates, meeting primary needs of life, health concerns and consequent psychological problems can become so frustrating that push the asylum seekers to the point of suicide or self-immolation.
Hence, we go hand in hand with our stateless countrymen in India who in objection to imprudence of humanity on the side of the Indian office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees are sitting down in front of this office. We keep our hopes high that this companionship can turn into a step, even though a little one, taken to assist these asylum seekers in realizing their rights. We, as human rights activists devotedly take part in battles in revealing human rights violations in Iran in the course of Human Rights Council meetings.
We, as the same devoted activists call for a response to these asylum seekers from the authorities of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the Indian officials. We also, strongly, request the political parties, civil institutions and other philanthropic NGOs to support our cause.
