Reduce Noise Pollution from Belmont Rifle Range

Background (Preamble):
Presently Queensland Law permits gun ranges to operate 6am-10pm seven days a week with noise levels of up to 95dbs. We believe that allowing rifle ranges in particular the S.S.A.A. at Belmont to operate in such close proximity to houses for 112 hours a week is excessive. Local council has confirmed that the range is actively recruiting new groups to come to the range and is increasing the number of operating hours.
We believe that this is unacceptable and propose some changes to the laws governing the range.

Petition:
We propose that all ranges in the Belmont Rifle Range complex be allowed to operate Mon to Fri 9am-5pm, Sat 9am-4pm and Sun 9am-12pm.
We also propose maximum noise levels escaping from the range at 85dbs as levels above this can cause hearing damage.
