On 24 April 2013, Rana Plaza, an eight-story commercial building, collapsed in Bangladesh. The search for the dead ended on 13 May with admitted death toll of 1,133. Approximately 2,515 injured people were rescued from the building alive.

It is considered to be the deadliest garment-factory accident in history, as well as the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern human history.

The building contained clothing factories, a bank, apartments, and several other shops. Had the building and factory owners, followed BRAC concerned for Health and Safety putting human lives above profit, loss of lives would have never taken placed.
The authority refused access to the international rescuers in spite of the fact that the country lacks equipment and expertise required to conduct search and rescue operations in the event of massive buildings collapsing was, due to disrespect for live of the poor hard-working.

Authorities claiming the success of rescue operation on the sacrifices of the common volunteers and the probability saving more lives and rescuing more in better condition. Ordinary volunteers using builders saw cutting victims limbs to pull out of the debris.

Authorities claiming they has used world best available resources in saving lives but how come a girl remind undetected for 17 days alive, according to the Army rescuers, she is only alive just because had a pipe to send may single just like pre-history days.

Victim service is in a shamble from the day one, whatever being provided is not victim centred it is rather image building, project based. Bangladesh have internal capacity to set-up and delivery world-class one stop victim support if chance to those who are providing leadership to the World Social Developments be it Healthcare, Finance and Community Capacity Building. Worst of all is to blame Almighty God (swt) to wrap it up (“The building collapse was beyond the owner’s control. It was an act of God,” said Atiqul Islam).

The crack that caused the collapse of Rana Plaza has shown us that if we don't face up to the cracks in our own systems, we as a nation will get lost in the debris. Today the souls of those who lost their lives in Rana Plaza are watching what we are doing and listening to what we say. The last breath of those souls surrounds us.

Unfortunately the Rana Plaza tragedy has dented the Nation’s image globally; this can be restored nationally and internationally if human lives are valued.

We believe in fighting for bold progressive changes, based on self-realisation and self-improvement. We believe in creating a fair Nation for all, our campaign is not against any Government Party or Businesses.

We, the undersigned citizens of Bangladesh including NRB (non residents Bangladeshi) call on the government and all its officials to give sincere attention to Rana Plaza Victims support 4 point petition.

We hope this encourages to make changes that will improve quality of lives and save lives.

1. Setting-up an One Stop Victims Support centre.

2. Redefine the definition of the Act of God, in Bangladeshi law.
