This strip club has posted a photo of a woman's bare breasts, cut off her head, arms and legs and put the words hooters underneath it. I find this sign an insult to all women and hope you agree and support the epetition. My reasons are:

1: They have totally de-humanised this person, she’s just been turned into a thing, it’s not a photo of a naked woman, it's a photo of breasts with no human attached. To me it is giving the message that the women inside aren’t people they are things, they don’t have faces or heads, they don’t even really have bodies, they‘re just breasts.

2: The club is located close to schools and family entertainment venues such as the cinema. I really think it’s an inappropriate place to have that kind of venue with kids regularly walking past. I don’t think children (or any of us) should have to be exposed to that image or it's underlying message about women.

3: The other concern I have, is that the patrons are being encouraged to see those women has things, the women in there are protected by bouncers, but on leaving the premises the men that visit it are on the same street as a girls school and a cinema. I'm really concerned that these men have been encouraged to see women as less than human so why wouldn’t they be more likely to act out or speak to girls and women in a derogatory way.

4: if someone in the workplace tried to put that image up as a screen saver, or have a calendar like that they would be made to remove it and be spoken to by management because it is discriminatory. So i fail to understand how this sign can be posted on the street and there not be consequences.

I do not understand why approx 50% of the population is allowed to be treated in this discriminatory way in our society, if a photo denigrating any other section of the community was posted it would cause an outcry but when it's against women it is accepted. This general acceptance of women being portrayed as breasts rather than a complete human being leads to less respect in the community for all of us, I believe it also leads to young women living less active roles as citizens and our general acceptance of this portrayal of women suggests it is ok for women to be treated like this and that women have a sexualised role in society that men do not have.

If you find the image of a headless, limbless torso being sexualised with the added provocative banner of "hooters" across "its" body an insult to the community, please add your name to the petition.
