As of 2007, almost fourteen thousand children from ages two to sixteen are placed in foster care each year, and the foster parents of these children are paid from $444 to $572 each month, in order to cover the costs of food, clothing, and basic school supplies.

In many cases, the homes these children are put in are abusive, either economically, physically, emotionally, or sexually, in regards to the foster parents stealing the children's funds, giving bodily harm to the children, maltreatment mentally, or abusing vulnerability.

We, the undersigned, call to the Georgia state government and Nathan Deal to promote better foster care living conditions, to carry out stronger background checks on foster parents, and to advocate parents to attend therapy sessions in order that they might encourage a more permanent and healthy home.
