Though Americans commonly believe law enforcement’s role in society is to protect them and ensure peace and stability within the community, the sad reality is that police departments are often more focused on enforcing laws, making arrests and issuing citations, than being an asset to those they are policing.

You as an American right now are eight times more likely to be killed by a police officer than by a terrorist.

** 37% of unarmed people killed by police were black in 2015, despite black people being only 13% of the U.S. population.

** Unarmed black people were killed at 5 times the rate of unarmed whites in 2015.

** Only 10 of the 102 cases in 2015 where an unarmed black person was killed by police resulted in officer(s) being charged with a crime, and only 2 of these deaths (Matthew Ajibade and Eric Harris) resulted in convictions of officers involved. Only 1 of 2 officers convicted for their involvement in Matthew Ajibade's death received jail time. He was sentenced to 1 year in jail and allowed to serve this time exclusively on weekends.

This must end. The evidence is clear. There will be no justice for Black Men in this country unless we demand it!

Demand Immediate Consequences for cops killing unarmed citizens including the following:

1. Police who kill unarmed citizens will be immediately terminated from the force and forfeit any pension benefits.

2. All investigations involving fatal police shootings are to be conducted by an outside investigative agency comprised of citizens and professionals that fit the demographic of the community by at least 70%.

3. If the outside agency finds in favor of the officer(s) involved in the shooting, pension will be reinstated immediately. Officer(s) will be eligible for reinstatement of employment following 12 months of counseling, 240 hours of community service within their policing community, and a follow-up psychological exam. Psychological exams will also be conducted by an outside agency. No back pay will be given to the officer during the investigative period. However, officers will be eligible for unemployment benefits.
