Proclamation that Arizona's Congressional District #8 Supports Congresswoman Giffords' Recovery

On January 8, 2011 Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (CD #8) was injured in a mass shooting that claimed the lives of 6 and injured 13 others.
On March 20, 2011 a person who is remaining anonymous began a petition to Governor Jan Brewer to call a special election to replace Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Congresswoman Giffords is currently recovering in Houston, Texas and cannot perform job duties yet.
Obviously her congressional seat is a federal seat, so its pointless for the target of the petition to be the Governor of Arizona. She cannot declare the seat vacant, as the United States House of Representatives must pass it with a 2/3 majority.
We, the undersigned, insist that CD #8's House seat be retained by Representative Gabrielle Giffords and not be deemed vacant. We wish her the best for her recovery and feel her staff are fulfilling her duties to the best of their ability and to the fullest extent of their power.
