Prevent the Greek Government from changing our surnames

I have been living outside Greece for the most of my life and I could have obtained foreign passports as well as the Greek one, but I have chosen to only maintain my Greek Passport. I am married to a Danish Citizen who chose to change her Surname to Charalambous. My two sons were born in the UK. They have two nationalities outside the inherited Greek one, that of their mother and their country of birth. They are both Charalambous.

One of my sons is married to a Russian citizen. She too has chosen to change her Surname to Charalambous. because most of my life activities were carried out outside Greece, my national insurance, my emloyment records, my Bank accounts, my Driving License, my pension contributions etc, etc my whole life's activities are under the name Charalambous. If one makes a search in the Web on Charalambous will find that world wide the name is spelled CHARALAMBOUS.

If I accept the Greek civil servant's demand my whole life ( I am 61 years of age) might be ruined since the only legal paper from my Country is my Passport. I petition the reversal of the new Greek ruling because I found it an insult to my rights and will turn my life upside down. They (the Greek Government) might have a reason doing what they are doing but they should protect thei right of their citizens first because it is us who elect them and pay their salaries so they could at least respect the turmoil that they are creating.

We the undersigned call on the Greek Foreign Misnistry to stop generalising their ruling and treat every case separately according to the side effects that their ruling creates.
