AFL - Australian Football League and governing bodies.

Australia

As Australians we love our sport, we live and breath it. Australian Rules football (AFL) is the biggest sport of all in our country.

Australians own the game and the game itself dates back 150 years. We play the game, spectate and watch it on television mainly on the back of the stories and teachings our fathers, grandfathers and those before them have shared with us.

But the game at top level is constantly changing, it is confusing, over governed, getting soft and becoming a bore.

The game is meant to be tough and rough and is played by men who by their are prepared to put their bodies on the line for their mates, their colours and their supporters and that is what we love about the game, the players courage, strength and skill combined. They are heroes to theor supporters.

As too are our heroes those that have served our country. Isn't it ironic that the AFL celebrate Anzac Day with a game of Australian Rules dedicated to those that have served for Australia, those that put their bodies and lives on the line for our country, men that have shown strength and courage, yet the AFL has taken the strength and the courage out of our great game and continue to call it a tribute match!

There are so many rule changes that the AFL has become nothing but confusing. The latest being the ridiculous interchange rules. The umpires and officials, not the players are the ones being put in the spotlight. Every contest leaves spectators from all sides nervous hoping not and looking for free kicks. This not the way we should be thinking.

Is there a free kick in the attached photo? You would hope not but who knows???!!

Isnt it also ironic that this year is the 150th anniversary celebration of our game. With all the rule changes and sanitisation is it still the same game?

This petition is aimed at AFL executives, to heed the views of Australian Rules Football supporters and to please STOP changing the rules and regulations. It was prompted by the recent suspension to Port Adelaide star Shaun Burgoyne, for rough play. Any sane football supporter would disagree with the decision.

I am simply a football supporter calling upon fellow supporters from all clubs to voice their opinion for the goodness and preservation of our great game.

This petition is a request that the AFL, its governing bodies and advisors listen to the concerns and views of the football public more closely and to STOP changing our game.

It is also a request that if changes are deemed to be required, AFL consult the 16 AFL clubs and their members via vote or referendum before changes are made.

This petition is aimed at giving Australian Rules back to the supporters.
